Sensex Surges Over 1,000 Points, Nifty Above 14,550 Led By Banking Shares

The Sensex rose over 1,000 points to hit an intraday high of 49,640 and Nifty 50 index climbed 287 points or 2 per cent to hit an intraday high of 14,568.30.
